Decorative rubber stamps

Decorative rubber stamps have grown in popularity in recent years – particularly in America where it has become one of the most popular arts and crafts-related hobbies.

While many will have stamped in the past, probably as a child, you may not be aware of the various stamping tools and devices that are now available – it has certainly moved on from the humble potato dipped in ink!

Now, decorative rubber stamps are viewed as an art form in their own right. As well as sculpting their own design, stampers have a wide range of designs to choose from allowing them to make up an interesting artistic piece.

Decorative rubber stamps are also a great, and safe, way of encouraging young children to embrace their artistic side.

Types of decorative rubber stamps

While decorative rubber stamps are the most popular option, other materials, such as woodcut, linocut and linoleum, can also be used to make stamps. And you can be sure of a crisp finish, as the majority of decorative rubber stamps are now created using leaser engraving.

If you want to change the look of a stamp picture, try using different paints, inks, chalks, etc. Using various liquids and powders will allow various styles and artistic methods to be used, as well as, introducing different colours to the piece.

Another top tip is to look at how you can dramatically change how your stamps appear by applying them to a range of substances. Cloth, paper, card, tissue paper, etc will all react differently when a stamp is applied, allowing you to achieve a range of styles.
